CHANDIGARH:
In a shocking incident, seven individuals from a family residing in Dehradun were discovered deceased inside a locked vehicle in Panchkula’s affluent Sector 27 during the early hours of May 27. The car, which was secured from the inside, was found parked outside a home, prompting immediate concern from local residents. Upon noticing the suspicious vehicle, they contacted the authorities, leading to the grim discovery of all seven family members, including elderly grandparents and young children, lifeless inside.
Investigation into Possible Suicide
Initial investigations indicate that the family may have taken poison in what appears to be a mass suicide. A handwritten note, thought to be written by one of the deceased, was found in the car, although officials have not revealed its details. Sources within the police suggest that financial difficulties might have played a significant role, but this has yet to be officially confirmed.
Senior officials, including Panchkula DCP Himadri Kaushik and DCP Amit Dahiya, arrived at the scene alongside forensic teams. DCP Kaushik stated, “The vehicle was locked from the inside, and there were no indications of forced entry or struggle. While suicide seems probable, we are exploring all avenues, including the possibility of foul play.”
Post-Mortem Examination Underway
The deceased have been transported to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6 for autopsies, which will clarify the cause of death. Forensic specialists are thoroughly examining the vehicle for fingerprints, toxic substances, and other pertinent evidence. Neighbors and relatives are being interviewed to gather information about the family’s recent activities.
